in this provincial town, but provides you with easy access to the many attractions that this very historical county has to offer.
Most of the major attractions such as Stonehenge, The Avebury Stone Circle and Silbury Hill are around about an hours drive from this
town. The closest of these being Avebury village where thousands of tourists visit each year. Here you can spend time exploring what

These stone circles are believed to date back more than 5,000 years and is believed to be even older than the one, which is located at
Stonehenge. In order to get to it you need to head out from Swindon towards Wroughton, then pass through the village and keep on the A4361
until you actually reach it. The actual drive from Swindon to Avebury should take no more than 30 minutes to complete.
The other historical monument that is located close to Swindon is Silbury Hill. This is a prehistoric monument that was built by man
over 4,000 years ago. Although it is not within the village of Avebury, it is classed as part of the Avebury World Heritage site. In
order to get to it one needs to carry on through the village of Avebury heading in the direction of the town of Marlborough. But be warned
during the summer and winter solstice strange events take place at both these locations, and these times of years those who still celebrate pagan
values can be found there.
